First Fruits & Tithes Part 2
"Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over". Proverbs 3:9 -10 MSG.
First fruit and Tithes are two holy claims that God makes from us. They are not burdensome because they all promise not poverty or hardship but abundance and overflow. We are in partnership with him. He makes the harvest possible for us and we ought to give him his "share" of the harvest. It is not a demand (tyrannical rule) but it's done or given out of love.
First fruit and Tithes were not mentioned under the law but before the law came. First Fruit was first of all mentioned during Abel's time (Genesis 4 : 3- 5) and then Tithes was mentioned secondly during Abraham's time to Melchizedek who was a type of Christ. (Gen 20: 17 -20).
