THE HIGH PRIEST OF OUR CONFESSIONS - PART 2
Did you know that Jesus is our High Priest?
At that time, there was always a High Priest who led the Israelites to make that once-a-year sacrifice for the atonement of their sins.
But here is the catch; giving this sin offering to God on behalf of the whole of Israel meant that the High Priest was representing the whole nation. He, therefore, had to be accepted first by God meaning that He had to even first qualify before the sacrifice could be accepted on behalf of the nation.
Now, this is very dicey because if he was not accepted, he would be struck dead by God. Which left no hope for the people of Israel. Another would have to take up the position.
What’s more, the sin could only be forgiven for a year after which the cycle would begin again.
But God had the plan to rid us of the control and dominion of sin forever. Colossians 1:13
He found no better sacrifice than His Only Son, Jesus; who became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the whole world once, for all. Hebrews 10:10-12
So now, we only offer the sacrifice of our lips – the bullock of our lips by saying the same thing as God has said. Hosea 14:2
Jesus has now become the High Priest of our confession, taking our sacrifice (our words) and offering it to the Father for us.
